On Monday, 6th June, protestors in Kisumu, Western Kenya, clashed with Police in a day-long fight that degenerated from the original intent of their demonstration; to put pressure on officials from Kenya’s Electoral body to resign. What unfolded was the ugly side of many protests in Kenya – death from excessive use of force by the Police, hooliganism and destruction of property. Africa Uncensored cameraman Elijah Kanyi filmed the chaos. How can the right to protest be balanced against other rights? Do the Police have the capacity to manage crowd control?
