Kenya’s Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis Burden

Kenya’s growing burden of drug resistant Tuberculosis is exerting a significant strain on the country’s economy and the health of the patients. It is six times more expensive to treat the disease per episode than it is drug-sensitive Tuberculosis, notwithstanding the severe side effects. Africa Uncensored‘s Iqra Salah spoke to one of the patients whose condition is worsening as he can’t afford medication despite being covered by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
